The Very Best Ghost Photos Ever Taken ... Are in the eye of the beholder.

This Known as The Famous Gettysburg Ghost Photo defies answers!

by Gina Lanier

Real Ghost Photos

Many ghosts in photos only mean something to the person who has taken the photo themselves. For as we know it is only they that took the photo and know that what they captured on film is not what was there when they took the actual picture. Ghost or anomalous photos happen all the time. Many occasions it's explainable. But when no answers can be delivered then it is genuine at least to the person who took the photo.

Mrs. Mabel Chinnery Ghost Photo

Mrs. Mabel Chinnery was visiting the grave of her mother one day in 1959. She had brought along her camera to take photographs of the grave site. After snapping a few shots of her mother's gravestone, she took an impromptu photo of her husband, who was waiting alone in the car. At least the Chinnerys' thought he was alone.
When the film was developed, the couple was more than surprised to see a figure wearing glasses sitting in the back seat of the car. Mrs. Chinnery immediately recognized the image of her mother – the woman whose grave they had visited on that day. A photographic expert who examined the print determined that the image of the woman was neither a reflection nor a double exposure. "I stake my reputation on the fact that the picture is genuine," he testified.

Myrtles Ghost Photos

Many people go to the Myrtles Plantation with many expectations to be haunted in several ways shapes and forms. Isn't this why the curious ghost hunter all go to haunted locations? A lot of the many Myrtles ghosts photos are to just strange or otherworldly. This Ghost Photo is one of many that has been sent to me.

With the advent of the digital age Video and Still camera Ghost photos have become more common and seem to occur more often. Is it the cameras or the reality that Ghosts can be caught on film.

This ghost photo (Below) was sent to me by Carmen Pená.

The Owensboro Ghost Photo

The Owensboro Ghost Photo is a really great ghost photo to blow up and inspect and investigate until cows come home. I personally believe that this ghost photo shows other worldly beings. Maybe it's a ghost a spirit or a demon. The idea of what are who it is, this of course is hard to figure out. But the Photo is authentic and many say down right amazing.

The photo sent to hauntedamericatours.com to me defies to me any explanations. There are more Paranormal things going on in this Ghost Photo sent to them by Katie Turner Then meets they eye. On view the larger image you too will be intrigued by it's many anomalous inhabitants.

The Famous Owensboro, Kentucky Ghost Photo. As far as that day, Tuner goes on to say, "like I said, my girls and I were the only ones up there at the time." "I remember I called my husband at work cause I just felt really uncomfortable like someone was watching me, but shook it off, assuming it was just my imagination." " My other daughter was playing in the tree house while I took this picture so she was nowhere around. "

The actual real ghosts are to the right of the photo. Katie Turner actually went back to the location and tried to duplicate the photo with no success. In the photo below are circled the images of Three Paranormal Figure on their Ghost Photo Gallery @HauntedAmericaTours.com, A small child's full body apparition appears, also a woman's head and a angry face are the First things you see. But their is more there then meets the eye at first glace. To me this might just be the Holy Grail of Real Ghost Photos along with the many that are on those pages in those Galleries. So browse them and let me know what you think? But What does "My" personal opinion count for anyway?

Do You Believe In Real Ghosts In Photos And What The Dead Have To Say To Us Or Show Us?

...Or, are they just showing us the way?

~ Rev. Ralph HardyView Full-SizeTulip Staircase Ghosts.

Rev. Ralph Hardy, a retired clergyman from White Rock, British Columbia, took this now-famous photograph in 1966. He intended merely to photograph the elegant spiral staircase (known as the "Tulip Staircase") in the Queen's House section of the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, England. Upon development, however, the photo revealed a shrouded figure climbing the stairs, seeming to hold the railing with both hands. Experts, including some from Kodak, who examined the original negative concluded that it had not been tampered with.

It's been said that unexplained figures have been seen on occasion in the vicinity of the staircase, and unexplained footsteps have also been heard.

Interesting side note: This photo isn't the only evidence of ghostly activity at the Queen's House. The 400-year-old building is credited with several other apparitions and phantom footsteps even today. Recently, a Gallery Assistant was discussing a tea break with two colleagues when he saw one of the doors to the Bridge Room close by itself. At first he thought it was one of the lecturers. "Then I saw a woman glide across the balcony, and pass through the wall on the west balcony," he said. "I couldn't believe what I saw. I went very cold and the hair on my arms and my neck stood on end. We all dashed through to the Queen's Presents Room and looked down towards the Queen's Bedroom. Something passed through the ante-room and out through the wall. Then my colleagues all froze too. The lady was dressed in a white-grey colour crinoline type dress."

Other ghostly goings-on include the unexplained choral chanting of children, the figure of a pale woman frantically mopping blood at the bottom of the Tulip Staircase (it's said that 300 years ago a maid was thrown from the highest banister, plunging 50 feet to her death), slamming doors, and even tourists being pinched by unseen fingers.

Whats in store for the Year Ahead...The Dead Know!

The answer to all this of course is you can only believe what is or isn't in your own head or heart! If you hear ghosts or see ghosts it's your personal experience.

The Stanley Hotel

There is no "red rum" in the haunted Stanley Hotel and Conference Center in the Rockies, but it is the place where Stephen King wrote half of "The Shining". The made-for-TV version of the film was shot at the Stanley, and King fans should book Room 217, which is where he stayed. It seems that strange haunted paranormal things were happening at the Stanley long before King came.

The hotel, which opened in 1909, is supposedly haunted by Flora Stanley, the wife of the owner, who likes to play the piano late at night. Her ghost is said to be very visible and a high profile haunting.

Home of America's Ghosts HauntedAmericaTours.com - GHOST HUNT RESPONSIBLY!

People who have stayed in Room 408 reported hearing children playing and laughing loudly outside their door, when getting up to investigate there weren't any. They also say they have left the room for a few seconds only to return and find the entire room in a dismay. And hand prints of small children on the mirrors.

Another staff member tells us of a guest, A true King fan to the end. He tells of a face, related the staff member, like that of a large dog like creature in the mirror that watched him, and yes he took a paranormal photo of it. Others tell of faucets turing on in the middle of the night, toilets flushing, and personal objects flung across the room by ghostly hands. Ghost Photos happen here all the time they say, especially when it snows.

Ghosts In Missouri

PARANORMAL TASK FORCE™ "Your One Stop Paranormal Resource Center" Has this very interesting ghost Shadow Person or animal photo posted on their site.

PARANORMAL TASK FORCE™ "Your One Stop Paranormal Resource Center"

The Shadow Person capture evidence photo by Tom of MPR on April 25, 2006 in the Zombie Road area. The Missouri Paranormal Research group had learned by talking to some locals in this area that back in the 1960's and 1970's when some hunters would be in the area Rabbit Hunting that sometimes a sighting of a possible "Black Panther" would be reported.

Black Panthers are not a native animal to Missouri, could these past sightings have been of possible shadow people?

PRIVATE HAUNTED PARANORMAL INVESTIGATION PHOTO SUBMITTED BT PARANORMAL TASK FORCE

Tom of Missouri Paranormal Research & Ghosts & Haunts in Missouri captured a possible apparition on 35mm film from the time noted above when he saw the human size glow move up the stairway and past him. Preliminary analysis by Greg Best of the Oracle Paranormal Research Society (O.P.R.S) shows that this picture is truly "unexplainable" and most likely impossible to recreate. He noted how self illuminating the anomaly was and even casting such light from it upon the boarded up window, wall and even the staircase railings. The negative will be sent to Kodak laboratories and professionals for further analysis. Both teams involved will also have to attempt the recreation of this capture on a follow-up investigation to rule out other possible explainable causes within the environment of that area of this house.

OOOOOOOOOOORBS - ORBS - SBROOOOOOOOOOO

The term orb describes unexpected, typically circular artifacts in photographs. Sometimes the artifact is in motion, leaving a trail.

The technical photographic term for the occurrence of orbs, especially pronounced in modern ultra-compact cameras, is backscatter, orb backscatter or near-camera reflection.

Due to the size limitations of the modern compact and ultra-compact cameras, especially digital cameras, the distance between the lens and the built-in flash has decreased, thereby decreasing the angle of light reflection to the lens and increasing the liklihood of light reflection off normally sub-visible particles. Hence, the orb artifact is commonplace with small digital or film camera photographs.

The orb artifact can result from reflection of light off solid particles (e.g., dust, pollen), liquid particles (water droplets - especially rain) or other foreign material within the camera lens.

The image artifacts usually appear as either white or semi-transparent circles, though may also occur with whole or partial color spectrums, purple fringing or other chromatic aberration. With rain droplets, an image may capture light passing through the droplet creating a small rainbow effect.

Underwater photographers notice the effect also, which occurs for the same reason as above-water photographic artifacts. Sand, small sea life or other particles close to the lens, invisible to the diver, reflect light from the flash causing the orb artifact in the image. A strobe flash, which distances the flash from the lens, eliminates the artifacts.

Examples of orb artifacts reflecting solid or liquid particles:

Orb Backscatter also has been interpreted by believers in ghosts, spirits etc as otherwise invisible spirits, auras, angels, ghosts, energy fields, psychoenergetic artifacts, energy balls or other paranormal phenomenon -- and hence beyond scientific explanation.

Clair Heller Aubry sings in the Band Helinium Wake, They say she seems to attract orbs and spirits in photos of her performing.

Orb Backscatter also has been interpreted by believers in ghosts, spirits etc as otherwise invisible spirits, auras, angels, ghosts, energy fields, psychoenergetic artifacts, energy balls or other paranormal phenomenon -- and hence beyond scientific explanation.

The term backscatter in photography refers to light from a flash or strobe reflecting back from particles in the lens' field of view causing specks of light to appear in the photo. Photographic backscatter can result from snowflakes, rain or mist, or airborne dust. Backscatter is particularly a problem in underwater photography, where particulate matter can be very dense and include plankton which would otherwise be near transparent.

Backscatter can be reduced by offsetting the direction of the photo strobe as far from the angle of the lens as possible. This is normally done by placing the light source high and to one side by placing the strobe on an extendable strobe arm. By having the light come from the side, the reflected light is primarily in the direction of the strobe instead of the camera lens. This is similar to comparing a full moon to a half moon. The full moon is when the moon is lit from almost behind the earth, creating reflection off the whole surface facing the earth. A half moon is when the moon is being lit from one side, making the reflection half the size and the light intensity much less. In photography, the side lighting makes the backscatter less pronounced.

Backscatter can often also be removed digitally after the photo is taken with photo editing software using digital filters or cloning of areas of the photo near the backscatter spots.
